Geneva officials support food-charity campaign
Geneva officials are throwing their support to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, during its Hunger Action Month campaign.
City leaders are collecting nonperishable food at City Hall, 22 S. First St.; the finance office, 15 S. First St.; the police department, 20 Police Plaza (James Street east of First); the public works department, 1800 South St., Fire Station 1, 200 East Side Drive; and Fire Station 2, 2530 Fargo Blvd.
The food will be collected through the end of September.
"While the need is great, even the smallest of gestures and donations make a difference," Mayor Kevin Burns said in a news release. "I proudly invite the citizens and businesses of Geneva to give from the heart and help our neighbors."
The city has also placed "Hunger Action Month" yard signs in front of its public buildings. And it will feature the food bank on an episode of "Business Beat" on Geneva Broadcast Network. The show can be seen on public-access cable television channel 10, and on the city's YouTube channel.
