Workshop asks 'Social Media-Who Cares if They Like Me?'

Open Door Clinic will offer a workshop on "Social Media - Who Cares if They Like Me?" at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Elgin Health Center, 1665 Larkin Ave.

Social media is not about the "like" anymore, it is all about the dollars and converting followers into customers. Do you wonder what a sponsored post is? Want to know the difference between a Facebook fan page, a business page or a group page, and how to advertise them? How about a LinkedIn Showcase page or a Snapchat Story?

Open Door will welcome Kim Gilmore of GMCI Creative in Elgin who will demystify social media for you in this 90-minute, hands-on workshop.

Learn how to pay for targeted Facebook posts, tweets and LinkedIn ads to garner new customers and loyal followings.

Find out the best ways to engage people on social media, and how not to respond when social media breaks bad.

This is not your regular social media overview class.

This class will take you into the trenches of how to target paid and unpaid social media. They will discuss Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Tumblr, Google+ and more, yes, there is more.

The workshop fee of $50 covers the cost of all workshop materials and lunch. Space is limited so please register early. For questions, email christinem@opendoorclinic.org.
