SciTech partners with Other World Comic Con to round out Aurora's event

As part of Other World Comic Con, SciTech Hands-on Museum in Aurora is presenting "Science and Superheroes for Super SciTech Saturday."

In addition to superhero-themed Creation Stations and a chance for aspiring superheroes to wield the Hammer of Thor and shine the Bat Symbol as well as other themed exhibits, local celebrities will be visiting SciTech.

Other World Comic Con is a two-day event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27, at the North Island Center, 8 E. Galena Blvd. in Aurora. Admission is free to adults with a purchase of an Other World Comic Con pass. Weekend passes cost $15. Day passes are also available for $10.

"Science and Superheroes, Super SciTech Saturday" is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at SciTech Hands-on Museum, 18 W. Benton St. in Aurora. All children are admitted free to the museum for Super SciTech Saturday. Creation Stations are available for a nominal fee of $4 per child.

In its second year, Other World Comic Con is excited to hold their annual event again this year with a new community partner, SciTech Hands-on Museum. In addition to sponsorships from Rotten Apple Studio, City of Aurora and Aurora Area Tourism, OWCC and SciTech hope to appeal to residents by offering a family friendly option.

Residents of the area won't want to miss meeting the best comic book artists in the business, viewing their artwork and other surprises descending on downtown Aurora for the two-day event Sept. 26-27. SciTech Hands On Museum will be open for Super SciTech Saturday, Sept. 26 for the event.

Gaiter Tee, organizer of OWCC, said, "We're happy to join our community for another successful event this year. Other World Comic Con is a grass-roots event that brought a lot of excitement to downtown last year. We expect it to be even more fun this year and are happy to join with SciTech to offer a family venue as well."

The SciTech Hands-on Museum, founded in 1987, provides the Chicago suburbs with more than 150 hands-on exhilarating and diverse Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) experiences that encourage visitors of all ages to "Imagine, Discover and Explore." Open to the public Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the museum seeks to spark the minds of budding scientists. Visit www.scitechmuseum.org.
