See District 211's Higgins Education Center
Township High School District 211 is preparing for the opening of the Higgins Education Center, the new home to several of the district's special education programs designed to meet the needs of the students and community.
The Higgins Education Center Open House and Building Dedication will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at 1030 W. Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates. The event is free.
The building will provide a centralized location for District 211 Academy-South, one of District 211's alternative school programs; the Adult Transition Program-South, which provides instruction and community-based experiences for 18- to 21 year-old students with cognitive disabilities; and New Endeavors, a program designed to serve students who demonstrate behaviors and characteristics along the autism spectrum.
Higgins Education Center building also will serve as home for the district's Community School, a new after-school initiative to provide a range of social services and supports to assist families served by School District 54 and Township High School District 211 with health and wellness, education and language.
