White Sox rally to beat Mariners in 11

With Jose Quintana on the mound, Sunday shaped up as a good day for the Chicago White Sox.

"There's an inner drive to him," manager Robin Ventura said of Quintana. "He's a tough kid and I enjoy sending him out there. You feel very confident when he goes out there because you know what he's put into it. He doesn't take anything for granted, never has, and that's the stuff you like seeing."

It was actually a tough day for Quintana, who gave up a 2-run homer to Kyle Seager in the first inning and a 2-run shot to Austin Jackson in the second.

That put the White Sox in an early hole, but they climbed out and beat the Seattle Mariners 6-5 in 11 innings at U.S. Cellular Field.

Alexei Ramirez singled with one out in the 11th and Tyler Flowers walked. Afetr Ramirez tagged and advanced to third base on Carlos Sanchez' flyout, Tyler Saladino came through with a single to decide the outcome.

Trailing 4-1 in the fourth inning, Saladino's RBI double and Gordon Beckham's run-scoring groundout brought the Sox back.

Melky Cabrera's solo home run in the seventh tied the game at 4.

In the eighth inning, Seager's RBI single off Sox reliever Zach Duke put the Mariners in front 5-4.

In the ninth, Trayce Thompson singled, stole second base and came around to score on shortstop Brad Miller's throwing error to make it 5-5.
