Palatine 15-year-old honorary bat kid at Cubs game
Palatine native Justin Davis, 15, was the honorary bat kid at a recent Chicago Cubs game, giving him the chance to do something always wanted to do - meet the Cubs.
"I feel so lucky to be able to be doing this," said Justin, a Palatine High School sophomore.
Justin was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2010 and underwent surgery to help limit his persistent headaches. His "bat kid" opportunity came through Advocate Health Care, one of the Cubs' sponsors.
Justin especially enjoyed the chance to meet Anthony Rizzo, who has fought his own battle with cancer. Justin's mom, Stephanie Davis, said their whole family - Justin's twin brother, Joshua; his sister, Stacie; and his father, Jack, were invited to the game.
