Mediator to assist in Dist. 50 teacher contract talks

Gurnee-based Woodland Elementary District 50 officials say a third-party mediator will assist in talks regarding a new teachers union contract. Board members agreed on the mediator with the Woodland Council branch of the Lake County Federation of Teachers, officials announced Tuesday. "The decision to enter into mediation is our next step in the collective bargaining process," District 50 board President Chris Schrantz said. "Our intent is to work with the federal mediator to develop a fiscally responsible agreement which benefits the students, the taxpayers and the staff. We are hopeful about reaching a resolution."
