Help police dogs while enjoying barbecue dinner

Bite into a barbecue dinner and help Aurora's police dogs take a bite out of crime.

That's the invitation from the Citizens Police Academy Alumni of Aurora, an Aurora Police Department support group.

To provide equipment and supplies for the department's recently revived four-dog K-9 unit, academy volunteers will hold a third annual drive-through benefit dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8. It will be held in the police headquarters' east parking lot, 1200 E. Indian Trail Road in Aurora.

The public is invited.

Academy volunteers and Reuland's Food Service in Aurora will dish chicken, pork chops, a combination dinner or a prime-rib sandwich with side dishes including coleslaw, applesauce and baked beans. Soda and bottled water will be available for purchase for $1 each.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the event. Call (630) 897-9334 or email ptsheldon7@sbcglobal.net for tickets or information.
