Get the facts on Fox News debates

Tim Springer in the Aug. 17th edition of The Daily Herald maintains that Fox News has decided who the Republican candidates for president will be, based on the fact that he saw the debate on Fox News Channel.

Fox News didn't choose the candidates. They opted to be candidates for whatever their motivations were.

He complains because FNC decided which candidates would take part in the early debate and who would be in the later one with a larger viewer audience.

Wrong. It was decided by which candidates had the higher ratings, or putting it simply, the public support.

Mr. Springer also erroneously states that Fox News is owned by foreign billionaires. Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch, a resident of New York for 41 years and a U.S. citizen for 30 years, longer than many who will be casting their votes in the elections.

According to U.S. law, the owner of a media outlet must be a United States citizen. If one is motivated to write an obvious anti-Republican article, he should at least state the facts correctly.
