Let It Be Us hosts dinner to help children in foster care Sept. 14

Let It Be Us will host its Inaugural Dinner featuring an address by Connie Going, social worker, foster care and adoption advocate, and mother of four on Monday, Sept. 14, at Hawthorn Woods Country Club.

The dinner will follow a golf outing scheduled to take place earlier that day, sponsored by Let It Be Us, a 501c3 not-for-profit dedicated to assisting children in foster care.

Dinner tickets are available for $100, and all funds will benefit children and young adults in the Illinois foster care system. Master of ceremonies for the event will be WGN-TV's Nancy Loo.

Those interested in the golf outing may also purchase the full day of golf and dinner for $250 per golfer.

Connie Going garnered national attention as the case worker of Davion Only, who in 2013 publicly asked his church congregation for a family to adopt him. His plea was covered extensively via local and national media and after two failed placements, Going formally adopted him into her family of five. Since then, Going has dedicated herself to the care and adoption of teens within the foster system.

Hawthorn Woods Country Club is at 1 Tournament Drive North, Hawthorn Woods.

Funds raised by Let It Be Us go to programs and projects that maximize the prospects of successful adoptions for these children and achieving educational goals for the older children in foster care.
