Cougars go peanut-free Aug. 21

The Kane County Cougars have designated Friday, Aug. 21, as Peanut-Free Night, presented by Fifth Third Bank.

The annual event and game held at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark will not include the sales of peanuts or peanut-related products to give fans with peanut allergies an opportunity to safely attend a Cougars game.

Tickets for that evening's 6:30 p.m. game against Quad Cities are on sale now by calling (630) 232-8811 or ordering online at kccougars.com. All fans will enjoy a postgame fireworks show and can run the bases afterward. That evening is also a Thirsty Friday with $1 select beers and sodas.

Since 2007, the Cougars have hosted an annual Peanut-Free Night for families of children with peanut allergies. Peanut allergies are one of the most common food allergies and can cause a severe, potentially fatal, allergic reaction. In addition to peanuts, the following items will not be available to fans on Aug. 21: Dove, Snickers and Twix bars, Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches, Dippin' Dots, Cracker Jacks, M&M's, cookies and brownies.

The Kane County Cougars, Major League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are the only Major League affiliated Minor League Baseball team in the Chicago area and have been at the forefront in providing the best in affordable, family-friendly fun since 1991. In 2013, the Cougars became the first Class-A team in Minor League Baseball history to reach 10 million fans and the organization is celebrating its 25th silver anniversary season in 2015.
