Parade one of the highlights of Lindenfest celebration

The Medinah Shriners speeding around in motorized picnic coolers were among a host of attractions in Saturday's annual Lindenfest parade.

Besides the Shriners' coolers, other unconventional methods of transportation - such as a new military tank and a troop of Clydesdale horses - participated in the parade, which had the theme "Dancing in the Streets."

Each act celebrated a different decade of dance, such as the '20s Charleston or the '50s Jitterbug.

The parade was part of the four-day Lindenfest, which celebrates the community with a carnival, pageant, Battle of the Bands competition, live entertainment and more. The festival continues through Sunday at Lindenhurst's Village Hall Center, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road.

Games, such as Bingo, will be featured each day of the weekend. The Battle of the Bands is also a highlight, with 11 local bands competing for first-, second- and third-place honors Sunday.
