Jim Gill to give benefit concert in Naperville
A family concert featuring Jim Gill will raise money for both the DuPage Children's Museum and Bridge Communities.
Gill brings his Family Room Tour - featuring his "Silly Dance Contest" and other family favorites - from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, to the Cafetoriaum at Washington Junior High School, 201 N. Washington St., Naperville. The concert is sponsored by Restoration Community Church of Naperville.
"We're thrilled to welcome Jim Gill back for another amazingly entertaining performance," said Hiroki Ogawa, the children's museum's visitor services manager.
"Jim is a great friend of the museum and shares our passion for bringing families together to play and learn. The energy of his concerts is very contagious - children and adults join together to sing, dance, clap and enjoy his unique and fun performance."
Gill is an award-winning musician and author. As a child development specialist, he focuses his concerts on creating playful interaction opportunities for children and parents. Learn about Gill on his website, jimgill.com.
While the DuPage Children's Museum provides hands-on learning activities, Bridge Communities provides resources for the homeless.
"As a church we are committed to living out our faith by loving our neighbors, so we're honored to partner with and learn from DuPage Children's Museum and Bridge Communities - two organizations that are known for their outstanding work in our local community," said the Rev. Brian Park of Restoration Community Church.
"We're also big Jim Gill fans! We love his music and the fun, interactive experience he offers to families."
Reservations are required for the concert. Tickets can be purchased online at dupagechildrensmuseum.org; by calling the museum at (630) 637-8000; at the museum's temporary location at Westfield Fox Valley Mall; or at the door if space allows.
Seating is picnic style (the audience is advised to bring blankets or mats, no chairs) and advanced reservations, at $5 per person, are preferred.
DuPage Children's Museum will officially reopen its doors to the public Saturday, Sept. 19. For details as the day gets closer, check for updates on the museum's website.
