Inappropriate head-busting headline
The sports headline: "I'm ready to go out and bust someone's head open" in Bob LeGere's football sports column on July 30 is completely inappropriate if we want to encourage a civil society.
Why must we glorify sports violence in our society, and then expect brutality toward others to decrease? The story continues to quote Jared Allen: "That's the kind of year I want to have. I want to have fun." So "having fun" is "busting someone's head open" on the football field?
I just don't understand your justification for using such graphically violent quotes, especially in your bold headlines. Don't you realize our kids look up to these sports idols? What are we teaching our children through this headline writing?
