Tastes of food, music galore at Arlington Hts. festival

The Taste of Arlington Heights, one of a weekend of festivities that serves as a kickoff to the week of the Arlington Million, was held Saturday in the village's downtown, featuring more than 20 food vendors including Ditka's Arlington Heights, Salsa 17, Circa 57 and Rack House Kitchen & Tavern.

"I came last year, and I was so impressed with the food and the prices," said Arlington Heights resident Colette Warden, who was paying her second visit to the Taste. "The food is great, the beer is great. It's fun."

She said last year she had filet mignon, a step up from the average festival food. "My boys were like, 'Where did you get that?' and I just said, 'You already ate your pizza.' Sometimes you don't really know if you want to go to a restaurant or not, but you try it here and then you go, 'Wow! We're going.'"

The entertainment lineup included School of Rock, Johnny Cash tribute band Stone Cold Cash, SunFallen and 7th Heaven at 8:30 p.m., as well as the unveiling of the winners of the Suburban Chicago's Got Talent competition.

"Right now I'm working up an appetite," said Mount Prospect resident Louis Venuso as he watched the 10 finalists of Suburban Chicago's Got Talent perform. "This is the best time to come. You get the cream of the crop so to speak."

Organizers asked visitors to use the hashtag #tasteah2015 for photos, videos and posts on social media during the weekend.
