Three ideas to boost respect for police

For every police officer that reminds us of TV characters - Bluebloods comes to mind - there are literally thousands of officers out there that view their badge making them God and above reproach. I have three suggestions.

First, eliminate the unions. Public service is an honor and privilege, not a constitutional right.

Second, implement extensive psychological testing prior to hiring and repeated every two years. It should be done by an outside contractor, not a union lackey.

Finally, if you are 25 percent or more over your idealized weight for your height, you are immediately terminated.

This in my estimation would return the respect for our police forces that has unfortunately been eroded over the years.
