Hoffman Estates teen on 'The View' next Wednesday
A Fremd High School student from Hoffman Estates will be featured along with a Chicago-based charity on ABC-TV's "The View" at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The VING project, backed by an anonymous Chicago family, awards $1,000 grants to people in need, who are nominated by 14- to 18-year-olds via one-minute videos.
Nikil Badey, 16, nominated family friend Ghulam Mustafa, who lost his wife in a fire last fall and was injured trying to save her.
In the already recorded segment, "View" co-hosts Raven Simone and Sara Haines interview VING Executive Director Jill McClain about her agency and the idea behind it.
Badey then surprises Mustafa with $1,000 provided by VING.
