Richard Marx, Reduced Shakespeare to headline Prairie Center

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Richard Marx, Hubbard Street 2 and the Reduced Shakespeare Company are among the artists scheduled to perform at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, during its 2015-2016 season.

The Prairie Center announced the lineup Wednesday.

“It has truly been an exciting 30 years made possible by all those who recognize and embrace the arts and cultural activities in the Schaumburg community,” said executive director Elizabeth Armisted in a prepared statement.

A benefit gala on Sept. 12 kicks off the season, which commences Sept. 26 with a performance by Marx, a former Highland Park resident whose hits include “Right Here Waiting” and “Don't Mean Nothing.” He released his 11th CD “Beautiful Goodbye” last year.

Prairie Center's concert series also dabbles in nostalgia courtesy of The Four C Notes, featuring former “Jersey Boy” John Michael Coppola, whose members recreate the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on Oct. 3, while Jason Petty pays tribute to Hank Williams and Patsy Cline on Oct. 30. Other headliners include: The Irish Heritage Singers (Sept. 27); the Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India (Oct. 25); the violin/cello/bass trio Simply Three (Jan. 9, 2016); New Orleans' Dirty Dozen Brass Band (Feb. 13, 2106) and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra (Feb. 28, 2016). Downers Grove native and composer/guitarist Muriel Anderson pairs music with photography during her performance March 6, 2016.

Holiday offerings include Schaumburg Dance Ensemble's production of “The Nutcracker Ballet” (Dec. 4-6 and Dec. 11-13) and Schaumburg Youth Orchestra and Choir's annual “Presto! Holiday Concert” (Dec. 19).

Chicago dance ensemble Hubbard Street 2 performs March 19, 2016, and the Reduced Shakespeare Company delivers the “Complete History of Comedy (abridged)” on April 3, 2016.

Prairie Center hosts an Oct. 4 lecture titled “1967: The Tumultuous Sixties Arrive in Hollywood,” examining three significant Hollywood films from that era. “A Night to Remember” on Feb. 6, 2016, commemorates a legendary jam session between Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.
