Augustfest returns to Des Plaines

Augustfest returns to St. Zachary Parish today for its annual four-day run, featuring a carnival, festival bands, food, bingo, casino and raffle.

The event at 567 W. Algonquin Road in Des Plaines runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 6, 6 p.m. to midnight, Aug. 7, 1 p.m. to midnight, Aug. 8, and 1 to 9 p.m. Aug. 9.

Musical acts include Beatles tribute band American English at 7 p.m. Thursday; Serendipity, a girl band forged from the El Rey Music scene in Arlington Heights, at 6 p.m. Friday; 7th heaven at 8:30 p.m. Friday; Eagles tribute band Heartache Tonight at 6:30 p.m. Saturday; and cover band Hi Infidelity at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Unlimited carnival ride specials are $20 from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A full weekend ride pass is $50.

Children games are from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The Bottle Blast, a St. Zachary original game where everyone wins a prize, is open all hours of the fest, as is the adult games tent.
