Olympic Signs celebrates 35th anniversary

LOMBARD - Olympic Signs is celebrating 35 years of bringing unique designs to buildings from Lombard to Chicago's skyline.

Olympic Signs was the joint vision of partners Rob Whitehead and Bill Pyter. Their vision became a reality in 1980 when they began their small company in a two-car garage. With one pickup truck and a manual crane and limited resources, they began installing and servicing local commercial signage.

"We're a hands-on company, which has made us good. There are no set hours here, and it's a seven-day a week job for us," Whitehead said.

The partner's philosophy is to produce an exceptional product and deliver total customer satisfaction, which continues today, especially after the recent acquisition of White Way Sign's assets.

Olympic Sign employs 32 people who are proud to work alongside their owners. Among its many clients are the Chicago Tribune, Drake Hotel, and Portillo, and the next project is to replace the Hershey's sign on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
