Woman's Club makes donations to Hanover Twp.
At the July 20 board of trustees meeting, the Streamwood Woman's Club presented Hanover Township with two donations to township programs and services totaling $2,050.
"The Streamwood Woman's Club has always been one of the most active and generous organizations in the community," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor. "They understand the significance of our programs and we greatly appreciate their donation to help us serve our residents."
A donation of $1,050 was presented to the Hanover Township Youth & Family Services Department. The donation will go toward the department's free Open Gym program that offers opportunities for recreation, sports, and positive youth development.
The Open Gym program continues to grow, being offered weekly during the school year and during the summer, spring and winter breaks.
A second donation of $1,000 was presented to the Hanover Township Food Pantry. In Fiscal Year 2015, April 1, 2014, to March 31, 2015, the food pantry served 9,763 families. The donation will be used in purchasing additional supplies to distribute to local families in need.
The Streamwood Woman's Club is a community organization that donates their time in coordinating various local events to help raise funds, which are then distributed to other organization and programs that benefit residents.
The club has a close relationship with Hanover Township, volunteering their time and resources at township events such as the Senior Bake Sale, Thanksgiving Meal Box giveaway, as well as volunteering monthly at the Hanover Township Food Pantry.
"The Streamwood Woman's Club recognizes others who work to better the community, build relationships and a strong community foundation, and those organizations deserve our support. There is more strength combining forces," said Vida Luzadder, Streamwood Woman's Club member.
Hanover Township serves more than 99,000 residents in portions of the Cook County communities of Streamwood, Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.
