Double-header for final summer concert in Elk Grove Village
The final Mid-Summer Classics Concert on Tuesday, July 28, is a special doubleheader event featuring Christopher Cross at 7:30 p.m. and Air Supply at 9:15 p.m. on the Elk Grove Village Green, which is between village hall and the library
Over the past three weeks, the concert series has drawn tens of thousands of fans for classic songs played live by the bands that made them great, including Kenny Rogers, 38 Special, Kansas and Travis Tritt.
"The response has been unbelievable," Mayor Craig Johnson said in a news release. "Every Tuesday the Village Green transforms into this great community space. People come out to enjoy the concerts and they talk to their neighbors and meet new friends from all over."
The free community event is funded through a combination of the 1 percent hotel tax, cigarette license revenues and gambling license revenues collected by the village, plus funds from the Elk Grove Park District and corporate supporters.
