Second man charged in Carpentersville armed robbery
Two arrests have been made in connection to an armed robbery that occurred in Carpentersville last week, officials said, and police are still searching for two additional suspects.
Christian Johnson, 19, of Carpentersville, was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and mob action, police Cmdr. Erman Blevins said Wednesday.
In a separate arrest, a juvenile offender was also charged last week with aggravated armed robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
On July 15, Johnson, the juvenile offender and two other suspects beat and robbed a Carpentersville man who was trying to sell them designer belts near Granada Road and Ensenada Drive, Blevins said.
One offender put a handgun to the back of the man's head and then struck him in the face with it, officials said. He was then beaten and kicked by all four offenders.
A wallet containing more than $2,000 was taken from the man, who was not seriously injured, Blevins said.
