Longest-serving Des Plaines volunteer steps down

Arnie Seegers, Des Plaines' longest-serving volunteer on a city panel, is stepping down after a combined 47 years of service on the plan commission and zoning board of appeals. Seegers was honored with a certificate of appreciation plaque, presented by Mayor Matt Bogusz at Monday's city council meeting. An architect by profession, Seegers has most recently served as the zoning board chairman. Bogusz said his staff scoured city records and could not find anyone who has served longer than Seegers.
