Elgin flags at half-staff in honor of Chattanooga shooting victims
The Elgin Police Department is flying its flags at half-staff in honor of the U.S. service members killed in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The department followed a notification from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services, which in turn was notified Tuesday by President Barack Obama that all people and entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the flags at half-staff until sunset Friday, Police Cmdr. Ana Lalley said.
The five U.S. service members were killed July 16 by a gunman who later died in a gunfight with law enforcement members.
