Art, nature collide at Mayslake event
Get in touch with your creative side at a hands-on "Take Part in Art" event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook.
Visitors of all ages can try blind contour drawing and other exercises; design nature-inspired collages; work with other participants to create a piece for display; use toothbrushes, paint and leaves to create fun splatter-paint art; or bring their cameras on a photo hike.
They also will be able to "paint by arrow" with the help of bows and foam-tipped arrows.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The free event is open to all ages, and registration is not required. For details, call (630) 206-9566.
"This is a great hands-on opportunity for DuPage County residents to create art and enjoy the beauty of nature right in their own backyards," forest preserve Commissioner Jeff Redick said.
"This is yet another example of how Mayslake offers programs that combine art and nature to provide DuPage County residents of all ages with a unique and experience," forest preserve President Joe Cantore said.
