New Dunkin' Donuts coming to Touhy and Elmhurst in Elk Grove

A new Dunkin' Donuts is coming to the corner of Touhy Avenue and Elmhurst Road in Elk Grove Village.

Renovations will begin soon on an existing building at 2750 Touhy Ave. where the doughnut shop is expected to open in the spring of 2016.

The village board this week gave preliminary zoning approvals, in which the current industrial use will be changed to business district automotive to allow for a drive-through lane. An outdoor seating area is also planned.

"I'll just be happy to see that place cleaned up," Trustee James Petri said. "That corner is awful and the sooner you can get that cleaned up, the more we'll appreciate it."

Final zoning approvals are expected Aug. 18.
