Antioch blaze under investigation

No injuries were reported in a fire early Thursday in an unoccupied house in the 42000 block of Old Lake Avenue in unincorporated Lake County near Antioch, officials said.

The fire was reported at 6:04 a.m. by a neighbor, Antioch Fire Chief John Nixon said. Flames and smoke were visible in the back of the home when Antioch firefighters arrived on the scene a short time later, Nixon said.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes of their arrival, Nixon said. He did not provide a damage estimate.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined and remains under investigation, Nixon added.

Firefighters from Lake Villa, Fox Lake, Spring Grove and Trevor, Wisconsin, were called to the scene for assistance.
