Mike Ditka's son arrested for battery at Des Plaines casino

The son of former Chicago Bears Head Coach Mike Ditka was arrested by Des Plaines police Saturday at Rivers Casino on charges of battery, according to police.

Michael P. Ditka, 53, of the 600 block of Deerfield Road in Deerfield, is scheduled to appear at the Second Municipal District Courthouse in Skokie on the charge at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 10.

Des Plaines police Thursday night said they were unable to provide details of why Michael P. Ditka was arrested.

Michael P. Ditka has had other run-ins with suburban law enforcement in the past. In 2011, the 53-year-old was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by Deerfield Police. Ditka's black Hummer H3 was parked in the 600 block of Deerfield Road when he was spotted by police. He then failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.
