Kids are ready for some football

The gridiron season has started early for youngsters attending the Chicago Bears Youth Football Camp in Libertyville.

The week-long camp at the Libertyville Sports Complex features instruction from former Eastern Illinois wide receiver Chris Wright.

Kids, ages 6 to 14, learned the basics of football, including running, throwing, catching and defending through drills and mini competitions.

"We're taking baby steps because they're still kind of young. It's still kind of developmental," Wright said. "I want them to leave with a little more information than they had."

Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps teach USA Football's Heads Up Football curriculum, which instructs the players on proper technique for blocking and tackling so they play better, safer football.
