Illinois linebacker up for pair of prestigious awards
Illinois senior linebacker Mason Monheim was picked to the preseason watch lists for the 2015 Rotary Lombardi Award and 2015 Butkus Award on Tuesday. Offensive and defensive linemen, as well as linebackers who set up within five yards of the line of scrimmage, are eligible for the Rotary Lombardi Award. The Butkus Award goes to college football's best linebacker.
