Wheeling tool manufacturing facility to close in next two years

A Wheeling tool manufacturing plant will close in the next two years as the company, DE-STA-CO, consolidates its North American operations in a new Tennessee facility.

The closure will affect 100 people at the Wheeling branch. Employees have the option to reapply for jobs at the Tennessee facility where there will be between 200 and 250 positions.

Two other North American manufacturing facilities, both Michigan-based, will also be moved to Tennessee.

DE-STA-CO says Tennessee was chosen for its "proximity to customers, improved shipping efficiencies, and an overall supportive business climate."

The company manufactures equipment including clamps, grippers and conveyors, among other tools.
