FEMA Mapping Revisions to be Presented for DuPage County
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is hosting an Open House to present the newly produced digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for DuPage County and incorporated areas. Come to the open house Wednesday, July 29, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the DuPage County Government Center, Jack T. Knuepfer Building Auditorium, 421 County Farm Road, Wheaton, Illinois.
DuPage citizens living in or near areas of special flood hazards, realtors, insurance agents, developers, and representatives of lending institutions are encouraged to attend. FEMA representatives will review the DuPage County mapping project, present the preliminary FIS report and FIRM panels, discuss the process of reviewing and adopting the documents, and solicit public comments.
The DuPage countywide project incorporates new flood hazard information for the Salt Creek and Sawmill Creek Watersheds, and for select streams within the East and West Branches of the DuPage River Watersheds. The new study information has resulted in new and modified base flood elevations, Special Flood Hazard Area boundaries, floodway boundaries, and flood insurance zone designations. The revision also incorporates non-revised flood hazard information from effective FIS reports, FIRMs and Flood Boundary and Floodway Maps as appropriate.
