Plainfield man killed in single-car crash

A 39-year-old Plainfield man was killed early this morning when his car struck a concrete median wall on southbound I-55 south of Cass Avenue near Darien, state police said.

Police said Julio A. Rubio was alone in his 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix about 1:02 a.m. when the car drifted from the right lane into the median wall. Rubio was unresponsive at the scene, police said, and taken to Bolingbrook Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
