Local leaders should not judge morality
Mayor Lentz, I feel your pain. It's a very old story that human beings are fallible, subject to failure in innumerable ways. Yet, this is "normal" for the human experience. Inadvisable use of alcohol, single-parent families, and gay couples do not meet your standards of propriety. Fair enough.
However all of these experiences are common and are as ancient as human history.
As a public official, we do not need your judgment on the morality of others. What we need most of all from you are policies that affirm equal rights under the law, including gays; policies that support an economy that treats workers fairly so that families can remain intact.
Thanks for listening.
