Shuck comes up big for White Sox in win over Cubs

A sacrifice fly by pinch hitter J.B. Shuck with one out in the eighth inning broke a scoreless tie and lifted the White Sox to a 1-0 victory Friday over the Cubs before 41,580 fans at Wrigley Field.

Most of the game was a pitchers due between the White Sox' Carlos Rodon and the Cubs' Kyle Hendricks.

The eighth inning began when pinch hitter Emilio Bonifacio led off against reliever Hector Rondon and was hit by a pitch as he squared to bunt. Bonifacio stole second base and went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Adam Eaton. Shuck, batting for Tyler Saladino, lifted the sacrifice fly to medium-deep left field.

The Cubs offense was victimized by 5 double plays. Their batters grounded into 3 double plays, flied out into another and had a runner thrown out on a caught-stealing and strikeout.

The White Sox improved to 40-44 while the Cubs fell to 46-39.
