Police: Aurora woman killed in murder-suicide at Arlington Heights Motel 6
Authorities said Friday afternoon the two dead people found at an Arlington Heights Motel 6 Thursday were involved in a murder-suicide.
Arlington Heights police said Cecilia Perez, 41, of Aurora was murdered by a man whose identity they have yet to reveal pending notification of next of kin. After killing Perez with a knife found at the scene, the man killed himself with the same knife, police said.
An autopsy performed by the Cook County medical examiner on both bodies Friday concluded that both died from "multiple sharp force injuries," although the woman's cause of death was a homicide and the man's was a suicide.
Deputy Chief Miguel Hernandez said the two people were dating and that police are still investigating why this happened.
"We don't know the crux of why it turned the way it did," Hernandez said. "We're going to find out why he did it."
Hotel staff members entered the room shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday and found a large amount of blood on the floor. They then called police who entered the room and found the bodies.
Arlington Heights police said they do not plan to release any more information on the case Friday.
