Pernix Group buys KBR
LOMBARD - Pernix Group Inc., a construction company, said its acquisition of the KBR Building Group for about $28 million closed on June 30. KBR Building Group will be known as the BE&K Building Group, a Pernix Group company. This acquisition will expand Pernix's commercial domestic operations and have a dramatic impact on its international business. The KBR Building Group has a long history of executing major projects in the advanced manufacturing, industrial, life sciences, research & development, food & beverage, commercial, mixed-use and institutional domestic markets. Pernix will further leverage the KBR Building Group's experience to expand its commercial and public market offerings internationally.
Food recall in Naperville
NAPERVILLE - Brett Anthony Foods said it is recalling two 8-ounce cups of Whole Foods Market brand vegetable chili because they were labeled incorrectly and may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The vegetable chili was distributed by Brett Anthony Foods to Whole Foods Market Naperville, 2607 W 75th St., Naperville. The vegetable chili is packaged in a plastic 8oz cup labeled "Whole Foods Market, Vegetable Chili" and has an expiration date of "70915" located on the bottom of cup. Only two cups are affected by this recall. No illness have been reported. Consumers who have purchased the vegetable chili are urged to return the product back to Whole Foods Market Naperville for a full refund. Art Van to open in Downers
WARREN, Mich. - Art Van Furniture said it will open a store in Downers Grove on Aug. 1. The retailer said this will be its eighth and largest location in the 55-year history of the 92-store chain. The 112,000 square foot, two-story store at 1021 Butterfield Road is located in the former Home Depot Expo Center. The $13 million renovation includes a contemporary stone exterior and 12,000-square-feet of windows. The store's main entrance will feature a cascading fiber optic light shower installation by British artist and lighting designer, Before opening to the public, Art Van Furniture will host an official ribbon cutting ceremony and private grand opening gala in Downers Grove on July 30 for 1,000 VIP guests featuring a live performance by recording artist and Academy Award-winning actress, Jennifer Hudson.
Zeigler to add another site
DOWNERS GROVE - The Downers Grove Economic Development Corp. said that Zeigler Auto Group Inc., plans to open a second dealership in Downers Grove. The dealership will feature new Chrysler Ram Promaster vans. in addition, new Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles and some pre-owned cars will be sold at the new location. Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram opened its first location, 2311 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove in 2009. The second will be at 2501 Ogden Ave. The company has submitted site plans to the village. Zeigler Auto Group was founded by Harold Zeigler in 1975 in Lowell, Michigan It has grown to 20 locations with 52 franchises in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and New York. It employees more than 1,000 people with annual sales of more than $800 million.
