Rotary Flag Day event raises $2,400 for vets

The Rotary Club of Arlington Heights Sunset raised $2,400 for America's vets on Saturday, June 13, at its second annual Flag Day Wine Tasting fundraiser benefiting Salute, Inc.

Fifty-five guests joined Rotary members at the Glueckert residence backyard event to honor the occasion and nibble on sandwiches and cheeses while sampling a wide variety of wines supplied by Teddy's Liquors.

As an added treat, the American Legion Merle Guild Post 208 award-winning Color Guard celebrated the American Flag with a flag folding presentation. Rotary member Beverly Palmer rounded out the celebration encouraging all guests to join her in a rousing rendition of "God Bless America."

Local community members who may be interested in Rotary are encouraged to visit the Sunset Club's social meetings on the first and third Wednesday of the month, at Eddie's Restaurant, in downtown Arlington Heights.
