Chicago Cubs fall behind early, can't catch Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers jumped out to a 4-0 lead Wednesday night against the Chicago Cubs and held on for a 5-2 victory before 36, 653 fans at Wrigley Field.

Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks lasted 5 innings as he gave up 4 its and 4 runs. He has not had a quality start since May 26.

The Dodgers' Adrian Gonzalez led off the second inning against Hendricks with a home run. Justin Turner's 3-run homer in the third gave L.A. a 4-0 lead.

The Cubs battled back in the fifth and chased Dodgers starter Mike Bolsinger with 2 runs. Pinch hitter Mike Baxter led off with a single. Addison Russell drove Baxter home with a double to the left-field corner. Chris Denorfia's single moved Russell to third base. The second run of the inning came home on a double-play grounder by Anthony Rizzo.

L.A. added an insurance run in the eighth.
