See the old world beauty of Rosemaling at Swedish Days

Rosemaling is a beautiful "Old World" style of decorative folk painting, originating around 1750 in Norway.

Rosemaling means "rose" or "flower" painting. Imaginative floral shapes in brilliant earth tone shades of red, yellow and blue came to characterize Rosemaling folk art.

The art form will be showcased from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Community House at Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive, Geneva.

In addition, Rosemaling will be a part of Sweden Väst on Saturday and Sunday in downtown Geneva.

Many items will be for sale and visitors will have a chance to watch artists as they demonstrate the detailed work that makes Rosemaling uniquely Norwegian.
