Hanover Park teen charged with sexually abusing girl

A Hanover Park teenager facing charges he sexually abused a younger girl told police he had molested the girl off and on for the last five years, prosecutors said.

Jean Famularcano, 18, was ordered held on $200,000 bail Monday. Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo also ordered Famularcano have no contact with the girl or anyone else under age 18. Additionally, Famularcano must submit to random drug tests, said Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.

Shin said Famularcano is accused of abusing the girl during the late evening of June 15 and the early morning of June 16. The girl told a friend, Shin said, and that friend told her own mother, who alerted Hanover Park police.

Shin said Famularcano, who has no criminal background, made a statement to police in which he said the abuse started when the girl was about 8 or 9.

If convicted, Famularcano could face up to seven years in prison.

Famularcano next appears in court ton July 9.
