1 dead in crash on Route 120 near Grayslake

One person was dead Monday after a four-vehicle accident on Route 120 near Grayslake.

The crash happened about 12:45 p.m. on Route 120 west of Battershall Road.

A landscaping truck, a dump truck, a van and a Honda Civic were involved in the crash. The person who was killed was driving the Civic.

Authorities didn't release the Civic driver's name, pending notification of his family.

The crash happened when the landscaping truck, headed east, crossed the centerline and sideswiped a dump truck headed west, Lake County sheriff's police said.

The landscaping truck then hit the Civic and a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander van, police said.

The driver of the landscaping truck was identified by police as Juan C. Mena, 20, of Round Lake Beach.

A passenger in that truck, Enrique Torres-Lopez, 48, Round Lake Park was treated at the scene and released.

The driver of the other truck was identified as Ismael Uribe, 49, of Round Lake Beach. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center.

The van driver was identified as Samuel Rumpel, 18, of Grayslake. He was treated at the scene and released.

Sheriff's police are investigating.
