Herald missed the boat on D-Day
June 6, 2015, marked the 71st anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces landed in France to liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny.
I carefully read the Daily Herald for some recognition of this momentous event. The only mention I could find was a quotation from General Dwight Eisenhower in the Celebrity Cipher: "The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to victory!"
It is a sad commentary on how we neglect the memory of those who sacrificed so much that day. And it adds insult to injury when we have to first decipher a cryptogram to read about it. Perhaps there is a hidden meaning to that.
