Buffalo Grove warns of uptick in burglaries
The Northwest suburbs have seen an increase in residential burglaries, including 10 in unoccupied homes in the last two months in Buffalo Grove, the village's police department said in an alert to residents.
Late afternoon to early evening is the most common time frame for the burglaries and the rear sliding patio door the preferred entry point. Jewelry and cash is the target, but other small items have also been taken.
The Buffalo Grove Police Department has increased marked and unmarked residential patrols, and its investigative and forensic staff is working with other agencies to identify suspects. Police ask that people keep an eye on their neighbors' homes and report suspicious people or vehicles immediately by calling 911.
