Mortgage Professional Reaches Local Anniversary

With over twenty years in the mortgage lending business, Bob Kenney has seen just about every circumstance imaginable. While the housing and banking industries have experienced periods of significant turmoil in recent years, Kenney is happy to be celebrating five years of service with 1st Advantage Mortgage serving the north and northwest suburbs. "Rates go up and down, regulations come and go, the interests of buyers change, but what remains the same is the need for sound advice and professional assistance in the home buying process," said the Barrington resident. "Throughout my career, my goal has always been to provide an experience that is as stress free as possible and one that suits my clients' long term financial goals."

Kenney has continually improved his skills over two decades as the home-buying industry has evolved around him. He holds CMPS (Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist), CRMS (Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist) and CMC (Certified Mortgage Coach) certifications. "This is a very complex industry, and one with plenty of competition, so I feel it is imperative to be as educated and experienced as possible. I think my clients appreciate that depth of knowledge as it serves them well."

Kenney notes that people often fail to realize how many aspects of financing there are. He mentions a variety of mortgage types, re-financing options, government programs, and the length and numerous steps in the application process. "From application to closing there are so many factors that can impact loan approval. It's my job to keep clients informed and wherever possible, get ahead of the curve so when they find the home they really want, financing it is already taken care of." In addition, Kenney helps buyers and current owners consider tax implications, funding retirement objectives, and how paying for college or taking care of elderly parents all need to be considered when making a huge financial commitment like buying a home.

Like many professionals, Kenney made multiple career moves along the way, working for a variety of lenders and serving many different types of clients. "I couldn't be more excited to have had the last five years with 1st Advantage and serve this area. I consider it a great milestone to reach this point and very much look forward to the next five years in the community."

Looking out for the best interests of his clients is what keeps Kenney energized at work. "I was raised in this area and have been very involved in many civic and community groups over the years. The people I help with mortgages are my neighbors. Most people buy multiple homes in their lifetime. I want to be sure that each time they do, they come back to me for lending."

Being involved in his community was something that was ingrained in Kenney as he grew up in Arlington Heights. Over the years he has coached basketball and soccer at numerous levels, been active in his parish and the Saint Viator Alumni Association, and has been very involved in Relay for Life. He now stays active in the lives of his twin daughters Samantha and Shannon. "It's nice to drive through near-by neighborhoods and know that I helped people find homes in the communities they wanted to live in. That's what the mortgage business is really about."
