Five-year-old struck, killed in Hoffman Estates

A five-year-old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle in Hoffman Estates Saturday afternoon, police said.

The accident happened just before 12:30 p.m. on West Thacker Street east of Illinois Boulevard, police said. A vehicle driven by a 52-year-old Hoffman Estates resident struck the child in the street, police said.

When emergency responders arrived, she was not conscious and not breathing. She was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and later pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m.

No citations have been issued. Police continue to investigate.
