Heat buckles Higgins Road:

Temperatures reaching 92 degrees in Hoffman Estates Wednesday caused part of Higgins Road to buckle around just before 3 p.m. Two right lanes on the westbound side just past Roselle Road were closed for a brief period to avoid damage to vehicles. Higgins Road (Route 72) is maintained by IDOT. Hoffman Estates police said the road was reopened to vehicle traffic by 5 p.m.
