Traffic alerts this weekend St. Charles Riverfest
The City of St. Charles Riverfest will take place Friday, June 12, to Sunday, June 14. There will be a significant increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic in and around the downtown area during this three-day festival.
Long traffic delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes of travel. The bulk of the traffic will be on Main Street (Route 64) in the downtown area from Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue.
Police officers and emergency management personnel will assist traffic at key locations during peak festival hours. There will be numerous street and parking lot closures in the downtown area during the weekend.
The following roads will be closed due to the festivities:
• Riverside Avenue will be closed between East Main Street (Route 64) and Illinois Avenue.
• First Street will be closed between Main Street (Route 64) and Illinois Street.
• Walnut Avenue will be closed between Riverside and South Second avenues
• South Second Avenue will be closed between Walnut and Illinois avenues.
Motorists who normally travel these streets are encouraged to find alternate routes of travel from 5 a.m. Friday through midnight Sunday.
Several downtown streets and parking lots will have parking restrictions posted. Motorists are encouraged to check carefully for posted restrictions before parking.
