Come to the America in Bloom volunteer meeting June 17

You don't need a green thumb to be a part of St. Charles' America in Bloom effort. Just come armed with fresh cut ideas and a budding volunteer spirit to help spruce up the community before the official judging July 12-14.

The America in Bloom Committee is holding a special volunteer meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in city council chambers, 2 E. Main St.

Maybe your talent lies in helping monitor conditions along the judging route or distributing signage and promotional materials. There are so many ways to get involved. Come to the meeting to find out how you can help and to offer your suggestions for making the judging a success.

"There is so much to be done before the judges arrive; we can use many hands," says America in Bloom Steering Committee member Steve Amatangelo. "We really want to show our St. Charles Pride and make the city sparkle."

Interested volunteers may contact Steve Amatangelo at Steve.amatangelo@sartorius-intec.com; Diane Cullen at dianecullen@sbcglobal.net; or Maureen Lewis at mlewis@stcharlesil.gov.

Additional information about the program is available on the city's website at www.stcharlesil.gov/about/america-in-bloom or the America in Bloom site, www.americainbloom.org.
